Named after Odo, the Earl of Kent (and half-brother to William the Conqueror ) was given the nickname of ‘Ravening Wolf’ due to his greed and renowned plundering of gold and land from Kent landowners. He was subsequently tried for defrauding the Crown and Diocese of Canterbury and most of his wealth redistributed.

Hengist – 5.0% Strong Golden Ale

Winner of the Dover Winter Beer Festival (2010), Hengist is named after the Anglo-Saxon invader who formed the Kingdom of Kent.

This golden pale ale has flavours of biscuit malt balancing a long fruit hop. Hengist has also won the bronze medal at the South East Regional Championship in both 2010 & 2011.

Miller’s Mirth – 4.2% Fruity English Bitter

Named after the merry miller from the Canterbury Tales who was always inebriated!

Miller’s Mirth is a copper coloured best bitter, a blend of smooth toasted malts balancing a four hop profile and giving breadth of flavour and depth.

Yellow Tail – 4.5% Five Hop Summer Ale

Yellow Tail was the nickname used by the French for the indigenous people of Kent during the middle ages.

Our 5 hop summer ale uses hops from the Pacific North West of America, giving this beer a citrusy, fruity, floral aroma and flavour. Brewed with Pilsner malt results in a soft ,round and refreshing finish.

Green Hop – 4.2% Green Hop Beers

From the start of September, hop growers start a month-long harvest of their hop varieties, making sure that they are cropped at the optimum time; not too early, nor too late so they are just ripe. Different varieties will be cropped at different times. We like to brew a range of Green Hop Beers which differ year on year depending on availability.

Red Raddle – 5.0% Five Hop Red Ale

Red Raddle is named after the red paint used on the millstones.

Our red ale was originally brewed to celebrate the 200th year of Crabble Corn Mill, and is a 5 hop, ruby red premium bitter. A biscuit and toasted malt base supports a broad, hoppy and smooth finish.

Grim Reaper – 5.5% Ruby Red Ale

Grim Reaper is our ruby red rye IPA brewed for the autumn months. At a warming 5.5%, this beer packs a bit of a punch! Plenty of Simcoe & Chinook hops are used to give this beer a fruity and citrusy flavour and aroma, whilst the rye gives light spice notes and added body.

A golden Christmas ale brewed with a selection of different grains giving plenty of festival character ! The addition of orange peel gives the beer a wonderful Christmas zing.

Figgy Pudding – 4.5% Winter Ale

A light chestnut coloured bitter with soft toasted malt flavours enhanced by the addition of figs and black sultanas, blended with spicy and caramel nosed hops.

There are always new hop varieties being grown and developed across the globe, offering new and exciting flavours. Our Single Hop Series showcases these hops in the best possible light. A simple malt bill of pale malt, a healthy dose of CaraPils and rolled oats ensures plenty of body and head retention.

Our Core Range

1381 – 3.8% ABV

The year of the Peasants Revolt. A golden IPA combining pale and crystal malts with Williamette and Centenial hops to give delicate citrus and herbal aromas.

Black Prince – 3.9% ABV

The eldest son of Edward III who was married to Joan of Kent and buried in Canterbury Cathedral. A rich, full bodied Kent mild, smooth on the pallet with subtle hop notes.

Gold Medal at the South East Regional Championship – September 2015.

SIBA National Silver award 2016.

Imperium – 4.0% ABV

The name used to describe King Ethelbert’s true rule over the other sub kingdoms of Kent. A deep amber Best Bitter with smooth biscuit malts and a hoppy nose. Brewed exclusively with locally grown Kent Bullion hops.

Montgomery – 4.0% ABV

Amber best bitter exploding with citrus aromas and using exclusively American hops. Named after the SS Richard Montgomery which sank off Sheerness during WW2 whilst full of explosives and the Coastguard monitor the wreck even now. National champion 2017 for Best Bitter and SIBA SE region gold winner 2016 for Best Bitters.

Fortitude – 4.6% ABV

The name of the plan to deceive Hitler that the allies were going to invade Pas de Calais instead of Normandy. Wantsum’s Flagship bitter first brewed in 2009. This Best Bitter combines four types of malts to give depth of body, with English and American hops for a pronounced hop finish.

Mores Head – 3.7%

Light Hoppy Session Bitter – Named after Sir Thomas More whose decapitated head is believed to have been stolen by his sister and hidden in the Roper family vault in St Dunstan’s Church”. A chestnut coloured Bitter providing malt and roasted grains balanced by fruit and floral hop bitterness with a hint of citrus

Black Pig – 4.8% ABV

Nickname for the Spanish Armada, whose wreckage was washed up on the coast near Deal after they were sunk by the English fleet and weather. Adapted from an imperial Russian porter recipe, this beer is incredibly smooth with burnt chocolate and smoky malt notes mixed with delicate hop bitterness and floral notes.

Dynamo – 4.3% ABV

Named to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dunkirk evacuation, launched from these very Kentish shores. A crisp, light golden ale, fruity and floral with an orange citrus twist.
